Shamrock Circuits
I started this website in 2024 to share some projects and host blog posts.
Previously, I posted projects and “blogs” to various forums… it was time to consolidate!
My long term goal is to sell some of my projects, but the journey is where the fun is.
Featured Project
Although I always have several projects on the go, at this moment in time I'm most proud of my protocol adapter project, and honorable mention would probably go to my somewhat older 555 timer - timer project.
Here's the protocol adapter, alongside its formal documentation. Around the office lab, USB dongles disapear faster than Bilbo Baggins on his one hundred and eleventh birthday. So I created myself a device that does everything I need around the lab. Its powered purely from the host USB port, but also supports external 5V. The device includes a USB HUB, an ethernet switch, RS232, and a NIC connected to port 0 of the switch.
The 555 timer project was done as a submission to Hackdays 555 Timer Contest in early 2022. For obvious reasons the project was submitted under the shouldn't have used a 555 category. My main goal was to restrict myself as much as possible to only use 555's in its design. However, due to cost constraints of implementing specific gates, I ended up using a handful of diodes and BJT's in the design. The vast majority of the logic is 555-based. For more details checkout the below documentation, or have a look at the original hackday page.
